Ø List your own quote, favorite saying, song, or other expression of your feelings today.
I don't really have any quotes for how I am feeling today. I am kind of having a bad day today because I don't feel too good. When I don't feel good, nothing goes right.
Ø Now that you made it to NMU – why are you here?
I am here at NMU because I am pursuing a career in Radiology. I would like to be an x-ray tech or work in ultrasound.
Ø How did you choose this school?
It was the only school close to home that I would like. I did not want to move far away from home. I would have the worst case of homesickness and I didn't want to leave the beautiful scenery.
Ø List initial observations of your new environment.
NMU is so beautiful. I love the scenery. It is actually a big school, to me at least. I am used to the weather changes from going hot to cold to hot, so it's no big deal to me. But it is beautiful here.
Ø List initial observations of your classes.
It is really weird not having to be at school everyday, in the same class, the same hour every day of the week. It also scared me because some of my classes are HUGE! My Human Anatomy class has at least 200 people in it, and my other classes are kind of big too. I am not used to having more than 20 in my class.
Ø What observations have you made about other students?
There are a lot of students. They are also all very nice. It is really cool meeting new people, seeing where everyone is from. Sometimes, you assume that just because someone is from another state, that they are different. But getting to know new people from out of Michigan, we are all the same.
Ø About your instructors?
All the instructors here are really nice. Even though i have a teacher I cannot understand and another teacher that does not teach well, they are all very nice.
Ø What do you think will be your biggest challenge(s) academically this semester?
I believe my biggest challenge this year is to not take college like I did high school. I always waited last minute to study and then did not do good on my quizzes or tests. Studying a couple days before is going to be a challenge. If I don't study long enough, I am going to do poorly.
Ø Finally, name one goal (personal, academic, etc..) you have for yourself next week.
My goal is going to be study hard for my quizzes that I have this week. I did not do so good on my last weeks quizzes and I want to try and do better.

Hi Sarah :) I'm in three of your classes and I totally know how you feel. I didn't do as well as I should have in my anatomy lab quiz either - mostly because I forgot to study and therefore drew some really stupid blanks. I also barely if ever studied in high school (other than taking notes in my high school biology, but that was because my teacher made us, and I'm glad he did, but that's a whole other story)... sounds like your goals are pretty sure and it's nice to see someone else from around here that really loves it here. You'll do fine. :)
Have you bought the coloring book yet? Seriously, it's so much fun, my inner child is so happy and it's a ridiculously easy way to bolster your grade. Also, I've been taking a ridiculous amount of notes since I've been typing them out on my lappytoppy, if you'd like me to send them to you I'd be more than happy to. Just lemme know.

Smart girl! You will need to study more and earlier than you did in high school, for sure. I'm glad you realize this. We'll be discussing test anxiety & study techniques in class Tuesday.
Unfortunately, like I said in class, Professors "profess" and teachers "teach" - so Profs usually aren't schooled in teaching methods, just subject. It's kind of tough to get used to.
You seem to be making a nice adjustment to college and that is great. There are huge differences between the two and it always amazed me that no one ever took the time to explain to students what those differences are. I guess that's what UN100 is for :)
Good job!
